11:30 am - Teen Wolf Fic Rec list wherein Derek is a wolf (or appears to be)
As Though the Air Protects You by the_ragnarok
Summary: In which Deaton is still a mysterious magical vet, Kate Argent is still a criminal socipath, and Stiles is still a crime-solving magical kitten.

Hail to Whatever You Found in the Sunlight by skoosiepants
Summary: They are all wolves.

Spring Fever by Saucery
Summary: Cat!Stiles and Dog!Derek

Forbidden Forest (eat you up) by kishmet
Summary: Okay, so technically werebunny Stiles isn't supposed to wander around in the woods at night. But creative interpretation happens to be one of Stiles' special talents.

Red Against the Snow by Ember
Stiles is trapped for the holidays in the cabin of a strange man/hermit named Derek. A strangely friendly wolf befriends Stiles during his stay. It's up to the teenager to find out why Derek has secluded himself from society, what the feelings he's beginning to have means, and what the connection between the mysterious man and the mysterious black wolf is.

You are the Moon by skoosiepants
Summary: Stuff Stiles doesn’t like to deal with first thing: hot, moist dog breath in his face, a cuddly werewolf creepifying his perfectly normal morning wood with shades of bestiality, and his dad holding his service revolver up against the skull of his bedmate, never mind the fact that his bedmate could possibly be a vicious unhinged rogue omega.

House of Straw by Coragyps
Summary: Stiles has been rescued, safe and sound. But Derek is having trouble letting go of the wolf. And the wolf is having trouble letting go of Stiles …

Here Be Dragons by Coragyps
Summary:Once a generation, the beast in the forest demands the sacrifice of a virgin … but not to eat. Stiles just woke up chained to a rock.

Have yet to read:

No matter where or in what form it comes, Love is unconditional by Venezia
Summary: Stiles is the owner of Furry Friends animal shelter along with his best friend and veterinarian, Scott. They take in all sorts of animals and each and every one of them have a special place in his heart. Then one day, animal control drops off a big black dog and Stiles can't help but feel some sort of bond with it.

DereK Hale is going to make whoever did this to him pay. He'd been in the woods investigating some rumors when all of a sudden, someone had knocked him out and drugged him and he'd woken up in full wolf form and in an animal control van. Now he was stuck at some animal shelter with someone who just wouldn't leave him alone. The human, Stiles, was oddly nice and gentle and continued to treat him with kindness. Derek felt himself drawn to the human but he wasn't a pet and he couldn't stay.

He Runs With Wolves by Seer Wing
Summary: Derek is a lone wolf - no, really, an actual wolf - who doesn't need - or want - a new pack. Stiles is an idiot who is only now learning never to anger a witch, never mind when that witch is a teenage girl and … oh yeah, your girlfriend. Actually, better make that ex-girlfriend. They meet, and absolutely, under no circumstances, do they fall in love. Much.

You're Makin' Me Feel The Monsters Are Real by wirewrappedlily WIP
Summary: When Stiles was four years old, he kind of accidentally ran off into the woods near the playground. It was a good thing, too, or he never would have found the tiny ball of fur with a broken leg whimpering in the long grass. The wolf pup was storm-cloud grey with bright blue eyes, and Stiles couldn't do anything but kneel in the grass next to him, reaching a careful hand out to soothe over the little guy's heaving back, tears running down its muzzle. "'S okay now. I'm here. I'll take care of you."

Actual Wolf Derek Hale by lovelornwolf WIP
Summary: Summary: Stiles is almost done with the bottle of whiskey when the dog wanders—limps—out of the woods towards him.

You Can’t File a Missing Persons Report on a Lost Dog (and that’s a Doggone Shame) by SnarkyLlama WIP
Summary: The wild dog that Stiles sorta kinda adopted has gone missing. He wants to find it. With Scott's assistance, he starts a Lost Dog poster campaign.

Derek doesn't want to be found, because he isn't Stiles's dog. Well... not anymore. And Stiles's posters are embarrassing.

Will the rest of the Hale family be able to change Derek's mind?

current mood: enthralled

7:13 pm - How are asparagus supposed to taste?
I have a view of asparagus as a delicacy even though I have never ate one outside of two inexpert romps I had with them at home. Restaurants served them up wrapped in meat, magazines extolled their virtues and people online swear on their taste. Eaten raw, the stems were sweet and crunchy like raw chestnuts. Cooked ala my household cooking method (definitively Asian) for vegetables, I find the head tasted like nuts, the delicate stems, a curious mix of tenderly crunchy and juicy while the tougher stems were fibrous and hence inedible. While I was chewing along, I have this feeling that the delicate stems could taste better though I have no idea how to go about it...so back to my status quo it is.

Meanwhile, I'm delighted to find out that mashed avocado with a teaspoon of teriyaki sauce tastes like egg yolk.

12:21 am - Don't Forget!
Milk Chocolate Reese's Penut Butter Cups, heaven on tongue.

May have to resort to making it now I'm out.

On the flip side, my chocolate is dwindling at a rapider pace after years in storage.

I've been in the headspace of the fic where Charles is a daycare teacher and Erik is an engineer for so long--having left off on the third snippet of the series to dabble in readings of other fandoms such as Inception, The Social Network, (nu)Star Trek and Merlin while leaving it as an opened tab all the time and coming back weeks later to devour the entirety of the series within two days-- that I can't quite reconcile to the X-men canon that most other fics in this fandom are based on...Nothing a sleep wouldn't cure, I hope.

2:53 pm - Green & Black organic chocolate, butterscotch flavour with toffee bits
I bought a bar at a health shop cheaply for it was expiring. It's quite nice-not teeth achingly sweet and unfortunately rather addictive. It tastes like chocolate but not really chocolate, I can't really describe it or have the inclination to typing these on a phone; but I'd love to eat more of it.

2:07 pm - Serial Killer Au, TSN

Ugh, just read this and can't stopping thinking about it.

"He's coming back for the most beautiful brain" and how nearing the end of time, Mark has developed perpetual eye shadows and even though they are cereal (pun meant especially for pet society players) killers I want they to get away with it and has a happy ending because that is what you do when you are a fan in a fandom (and it's all fictional) but bad endings are more poignant because people wants there to be a good one and they'll ache over it and think about it more, etc etc and create multiple versions of good endings just for it.

All this and the absurd thing is I haven't even watched the movie yet. Actually the saddest thing is I've devoured most of the tsn fics in rec lists and then some. I need new fics D: (and I also really need to do my work)

ETA: ugh, he's coming back for the most beautiful brain he knows!!!! ;_; I need comfort ponies (pet society) I need comfort fic!!! (i need to do my work) Why, Wardo, why? Why can't you all communicate?! Whyyyyyyy???? (seriously, my leader is probably hates me now)

8:57 pm - Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief
Just started reading Percy Jackson's first book and I really like it. It employs something like in media res and lets me get to the revelation as the story goes on. I'm at the part where Percy saw "Present" snip a cord and am currently escaping unknown dangers with his mother and Grover. He also found out that someone is probably going to die and at this point I had to wiki it to see if Grover survived because that chemistry he has with Percy is half the appeal of this story for me and since I'm already wiki-ing it (while very much ignoring the spoilers as best I can) I went and search for the fandom size of this slash pairing only to find, to my shock and dismay, that it is non-existent. Why? Oh cruel world.

EDIT: I got over it. There were a couple of fanfic writers with wonderful characterization skills. Really, just write me more Gods interacting with their kids and my life will be full of joy. Except, well, with how small said fandom size is, I wondered off to HP fics again and got stuck on Lomonaaeren's 100+++ fic page for a couple of days. I'm still there >

4:03 pm - Chewy cookies love
I'm going to miss my cinnamon ginger chocolate chip wheat cookies. It lost enough of it's crunchiness to become the most perfectly chewy cookies ever to grace my teeth. ;_;

Currently fumbling about in the post-daze of having watched an extraordinary movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, I feel mentally restless that I have to write something, anything and of course why not a diary review that acts as something of a movie review. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a story about a man who physically grows younger as he gets older--some term it as living life backwards. It is a movie that I never have thought to watch as the concept seems potentially heartbreaking so it was a surprise to find it more of a heartwarming and intriguing tale. I especially feel heartened by the woman who found Benjamin, whose name I never could quite catch but whom Benjamin refers to as his "Momma"..."Quinnie" isn't it? She found and accepted Benjamin when he was a centurion baby, all withered and old, her heart so big unlike another most other humans that rather than balking at his ugly appearance, she raised him as if he were her child. The storytelling is truly lovely, the settings, music and characters come together to form a most poignant atmosphere that fills me with so much unnamed feelings.

It kind of makes me think of watching The Time Traveller's Wife, another movie concept which I think would be a cruel tear-jerker but mayhap be mistaken.

As I wont to do, after a movie like this, I went look for fanfics. There was a sad total of 9 fics on fanfiction.net but one stood out in that it was a wish-fulfilling work narrating a fork in the road where Benjamin didn't leave Daisy and Carol. A point that struck me as very wise was bringing up how Benjamin running out on his family a result of his pointless self-pity, which on further contemplation, was a chord running against the spirit of the movies which had sprung out characters going about willy nilly saying people can do what they want in their life. Opps, continuity error? A conflict between staying true to the matter-of -fact angst to the book and directing a movie that would appeal to the mass? I know nothing. I didn't even read the book. These are just my guesses. Or maybe, it's just people being stupid, aren't we all this way from time to time?

I want to watch Inception, it has so many fics bouncing around the net now and I can't read them till I watch it ;_;...it's going to a long wait.

10:07 pm - Superman/Lex Luthor fics

One thing I always want to read more of would be Superman/Lex Luthor fics.

There is something about a Luthor who is evil but not unsalvageable and a Superman who is judging but not unbendable that when combined to form a somewhat amiable relationship, makes me warm in my heart. However, by the lords above, are they difficult to uncover from the depths of search engine results. They don't necessarily come in "Superman/Lex Luthor slash fic" results (of course, I didn't search very far). The most I've come across is the theme "President Lex" in
and of course the ones that wrote the afore-described relationship containing yummy fics and created a basis for my cravings like astolat (Revenge in which Lex is still a President but hoo boy he and Clark aren't buddies either until Joker got them together-he didn't mean to) and rageprufrock (where Lex is tamed by his son, Kon, who in search of his mother, found Clark/Superman).

Oh and they are found under Smallville, which, again, I've never watched before but enjoyed the fics immensely. There is a great many fics out there but sifting through them to get to something of DC Superman/Lex Luthor is an unfortunate process consisting of innumerable shameful sidetracks.

Here there be not-another-incomprehensive-and-biased-list-of-links-again. It's just one at the moment.Collapse )

12:19 am - Merlin, The episode with the Troll (spoilers below)
(Very possibly the episode where Arthur starts to suspect Merlin as being a creepy stalker and gay, re: Merlin under his bed and almost hug)

The whole Troll/Uther relationship was hilarious but inexplicably sweet. Uther was so smitten and the troll, so surprised by the extent of Uther's infatuation that they, em, did it. (Really, the whole scene leading to The Kiss was wonderful in a "monster shines at last" way) At the moment of Horrendous Revelation, I like to think the the Troll was hurt as she knew immediately there was no going back, that it was the end and the words she spoke was a last ditch attempt to hurt Uther even when she knew it would not work. Meanwhile, Uther's nausea was a delightful scene to behold and kept me warm with it's amusement factor everytime I thought of it.

Sadly, there seems to be no fic for that lovely and fun two episodes.

9:06 pm - Rodney
is one of the singing cockroaches in Jim's Apartment
is a guinea pig in Dr. Dolittle

Movies I watched recently:
Jim's Apartment: yay, singing cockroaches!
Dr. Dolittle: yay, talking animals! I loved Lucky (dog), Rodney(guinea pig), the pidgeon couple, the sickly tiger and the new born alligator.
Stardust: yay, talking star! And the "ninny" pirate with his first mate who rolls his eyes a lot but clearly has great affection for his captain as well as a really sweet crew that show a rough exterior but clearly are just softies underneath.
Diehard 4.0: software meets hardware.
Fred Claus: great concept but unfortunately poor execution
Pirates of the Carribean: hated it years back but liked it when i saw it recently.

1:17 pm - Kuroshitsuji AKA Black Butler (manga) -spoilers of chapter 30 something ahead-

Kuroshitsuji is a horror/humour/action and adventure themed manga with beautiful gorgeous art. It is obvious the mangaka has a thing for beauty by how each scene and character are meticulously designed. Though I wonder if the mangaka has a thing for slash, which this manga is full of undertones of. Tell me your mind wasn't in the gutter when Ciel had to make the Undertaker laugh. Also, in her previous manga, she really liked drawing the male vampire taking blood from another guy, which is lovely...heh. It made up for the storyline.

Back to Kuroshitsuji: it had started off with humour as we get to see the household of Ciel Phantomhive where the butler, Sebastian has to save the day from the damages wrecked by the bumbling house servants.

Later it descended into horror, starting with Jack the Ripper's murders and the supernatural aftermath followed by the Pied the Piper mystery.

Action/adventure starts with Sebastian's fight with Grell (which should be a draw if i remembered correctly) but becomes more apparent when the circus infiltrated the Phantomhive mansion to be taken down by the bumbling servants who were revealed as a private army of the Phantomhive estate. Consequently, the servants exchanged blows with the Queen's bodyguards and were beaten but were saved by Sebastian, thereby establishing the first hierachy of power in the manga.

Of course for now, Sebastian remains the deux ex machina against humans and I wonder if there ever would be a day where he would be brought down by humans against him (Agni don't count)

Hope there will be more screen time of...what is Suit's name? William? Ronold Kroz? Anyway, I love the concept of the Death Gods as office workers and I'm expecting their headquaters anytime soon or if the mangaka is evil, hundred of chapters later or none at all.

9:49 pm - The First Rule of Mathematics
You can never be 100% sure you have all the correct answers unless you double-checked after you finished everything. This applies even if you checked while doing your sums.

This basically means do the questions twice if you want to raise your chances of being totally right and learn how to use mathcad already.

12:22 am - Cookies
On Friday, I baked a batch of cookies with this fancy name "Swedish Spritz" and was pretty much the simplest and shortest recipe in my recipe book. I also experimented by separating the cookie dough into a few parts and adding baking powder, baking soda and cream of tartar respectively. If I remember correctly, these are the following observations.

Baking powder: More crunchy and less hard
Baking soda: Same as baking powder
Cream of tartar: More crunchy and less hard but bitter, like the bitter taste in yellow noddles (kee in hokkien) except worse.
Baking powder and cream of tartar: Er, I added cream of tartar to see if it would counteract the effect of baking powder but i don't remember my observations.

Well, I get to do it again next time. Hopefully, I'll remember to use my brand spanking new cinnamon powder.

10:35 pm - So Cool!!! xD
So this pretty gold-shelled bug was flying around the dim orange light encased in a pretty, strong glass, when a lizard suddenly appeared from behind the cupboard and proceeded to rush the bug. The lizard stroke out once and twice and the bug fell out of the air, down. Puzzled, the lizard stayed where it was but a human made a whoop of delight and shorter than a blink of the eye, it was gone.
